Pain of growth

City of Ahmedabad is growing and its growing fast. I have a good feeling about this development.

Ahmedabad is the place who is home to lots of NRIs. I enjoy this status of the city of being a home to pardeshis, its quite funny.

I see fairly well developed Ahmedabad after lets say 10 years. And I hope that I will be there. With me all locals will go through the pain of this growth. And we all would enjoy the better and comfortable city very much. The reason because we would have felt the pain. For example the over bridge which is under construction near my home is causing the pain while driving over there, but after its done I will enjoy it very much because it will give me comfort of driving.

But the NRI, when he or she visits after 3-4 years, would never enjoy the way we locals would. The reason they have not felt what it was like when it was building.

Its like parents would never have same feelings for the adopted child, as compare to parents of their own child. You adopt a three year old, which is a great and bold thing to do. But to give a birth to a child, and to raise her or him its not a easy job. Parents will feel very proud when their offspring becomes a well groomed person.

Pain while growing is very sweet, few days of pain and then life long happiness.

I would like to enjoy the pain of growth and then double my enjoyment once the growth is made.

Wrote like a true masochist and then goes socialist and becomes a saddist.
You love pain, don't you, eh ?
Watch Dhoom 2 !

Ahmedabad is growing like crazy, whether we shall be a part of this growth or out-grow our affection for the city, only time will tell.
Yours truly,
Enya :-)

Nice blog but I believe it leads to believe that growth is painful, not always. The reason it may be painful for Amdavad is probably because of lack of planning, resources, funds or all of those. Or may be it's too much growth. China has grown in 10 years as much as the west took abt 200 years. India is going the same way. I'm just worried about it's implications on the people and the culture. 'Consumerism' drove the west and is driving the east now as well. Everyone wants to 'grow' and that needs resources, both human and natural. Both will suffer at the end, it's a shame we won't be around...the drivers of that growth.

"what you wrote in blog" pretty much applies to "growing" organizations and sometimes individals, who are part of the same. Well in this case, growth never stops so does the pain. You just have to find the way to be happy!!!
